About Us
Founded in 2004, The Gentry Grooming Co is the brainchild of Adele & her husband Matt Lock. After appearing on the first series of Lord Sugar’s hit show The Apprentice in 2005, Adele was determined to take The Gentry Grooming Co to the next level and make her mark as a successful entrepreneur in the male grooming industry.
The Gentry Grooming Co undertook extensive research into the male grooming industry to create a credible brand that is an authority in male grooming. Intent on putting the GREAT back into BRITISH grooming, the concept of ‘Gentrification’ was born.
In 2005, The Gentry Grooming Co opened its first flagship ‘Male Grooming Salon’ in Manchester, following its success additional salons were opened in the North West.
The next step was to develop a high quality male grooming range that contained selected handpicked ingredients to complement male skin. From 2006 – 2010, a vast amount of research both theoretical and practical was undertaken into men’s skin with the help of the Manchester Business School ‘Incubator’ scheme.
Adele Lock – Managing Director
At the age of 18, Adele began her career as the General Manager at A&S, a kitchen and bathroom appliance shop in Chorlton.
After 10 years of working for A&S, she did a stint on the first ever series of The Apprentice.
Adele then set up The Gentry Grooming with her husband, Matt Lock, and her brother in law, Jon Lock.
Adele is a typical Libran, indecisive at times but has strong leadership skills. She likes to have fun in the office and makes work enjoyable.
Likes: Socialising, cycling, swimming and camping in her campervan.
Dislikes: Rude people

Matt Lock – CEO
Matt is always looking for new ideas and researching the market. He usually ends up as the guinea pig for all new product development!
Likes: Cycling, camping and spending time with the family.
Dislikes: Pompous people and seafood.

Lynne Taylor – Training and Business Development
Lynne is Adele, Matt and Jon's sister-in-law.
She recently joined the company after a long and successful career in the Airline Industry. Her strengths lie in training and development.
Likes: Everything French and going on holiday to Orlando
Dislikes: Being late!
Julia Amer – Training and Business Development
Jon Lock – Salon Director for Didsbury and Technical Director
Jon has been a barber for over 30 years.
Likes: Looking after his clients, spending time with family, playing squash and going to music gigs.
Dislikes: Not a lot really!

Craig Malpus – Salon Director for Wilmslow
Craig joined the Gentry in 2007 and soon progressed as a Director of the company and now heads up the Wilmslow salon.
He is Terrence Paul trained and Wella trained in colour.
Likes: Rock climbing and socialising.
Dislikes: Tomatoes and mayonnaise?!
Jason Wigglesworth – Salon Director for Manchester
Jason joined the business with a wealth of experience from the corporate playing field and became Director of the Manchester salon in 2009.
Likes: socialising, holidays away in hot places and going to the gym.
Dislikes: Ignorance and arrogance.
